On 11 November 2021 Josef Urban represented NESSI in a workshop on a strategic European vision for the Computing Continuum and how to establish a European supply and value chain in cloud to edge computing.
Josef presented NESSI’s view on “Shaping the Cloud-Edge-IoT Work Programme for 2023-2024”, emphasising the importance of research in the engineering of complex software intensive systems.
He also presented NESSI’s position on Open Source Software, stressing the need to continue supporting the Open Source model as one way to facilitate easy access to fundamental technology under equal conditions to all organizations across Europe, whilst not precluding other models of software licensing (e.g. SaaS, proprietary), especially if this helps exploitation.
